A Case of Dipheylhydantion Induced Severe Aplastic Anemia

Abstract
|
|
|
ince 1938, Diphenylhydantoin (DPH) has remained one of the most widely used
anticonvulsants for treatment and prevention of seizures.
DPH may induce serious damage to the hematopoietic system.
Especially, DPH induced severe aplastic anemia is one of the most severe complication and
its incidence is extremely rare.
We recently experienced one case of severe aplastic anemia in 52-year-old woman
following administration of DPH.
Literature was reviewed briefly.
